The Shelbyville Common Council approved the 2027 operating budget for the City of Shelbyville Monday at its meeting at City Hall.
City of Shelbyville employees will be receiving a 2% cost of living raise in the next calendar year. That pushes each payroll payment by the city to approximately $800,000, according to Clerk-Treasurer Scott Asher.
The approved 2027 budget is for $42,953,618 with a general fund of $24,058,274; Tax levy fund of $7,615,563; and non levy fund of $11,279,781.
In other council business:
- Approved rezoning 415 E. Hendricks St. to Light Industrial. The plan for the property that formerly housed Occasions Banquet Hall is to remodel it for storage units.
- Approved police department and fire department contracts for 2027. The 2% raise for city employees also includes the members of both departments
