This month of March is Severe Weather Preparedness Month across Illinois
The Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and others remind Lawrence County residents and others that severe weather can affect any community at any time. In 2023, the state of Illinois received 2 significant presidential disaster declarations for severe weather and flooding that totalled over $462 million in damages including the EF3 tornado that impacted Robinson and Crawford County. It is important to have a plan and be prepared to take action when the weather turns life-threatening. The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting scattered shower and thunderstorm activity across the region Tuesday with the overall severe threat being low. But a few strong storms could produce locally heavy rain and small hail.
