A serious two-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Plymouth-Goshen Trail on Friday afternoon sent a local couple to the hospital.
Emergency responders from the Plymouth Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene at 12:18 p.m. on Friday, April 9. Plymouth Police Officer Krynock was the first to arrive, locating the crash in the westbound lanes of U.S. 30.
According to the police report, Andrew Pfeifer of Niles was traveling westbound on U.S. 30 in a 2017 white Ford Tracer. At the same time, Erwin "Don" Marohn of Plymouth was heading eastbound in a 2023 silver Ford F-150. Investigators state that Marohn attempted to turn north onto Plymouth-Goshen Trail, failing to yield the right-of-way and turning directly into the path of Pfeifer's oncoming vehicle.
Following the collision, Don Marohn and his wife, Chris, who was in the front passenger seat, were both transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for medical treatment. Due to the nature of her injuries, Chris Marohn was subsequently transferred to IU Health in Indianapolis that Friday evening.
Authorities have not released any further details regarding the current medical conditions of the Marohns, nor has information been provided regarding whether Pfeifer sustained any injuries in the crash.
