semi-loaded-with-potatoes-caught-fire-on-i-74-in-decatur-county
Interstate 74 traffic in Decatur County was stalled Monday morning by a semi fire.
The fire on eastbound I-74 near the 138-mile marker involved a semi with a load of potatoes. The semi driver, John Gregory Bronson of Pocatello, Idaho, called Decatur County dispatch to report his brakes caught on fire and the trailer was fully engulfed.
Fire departments from Greensburg and New Point put out the fire.
Both eastbound lanes were shut down for about three hours when the left lane was opened to traffic. Both lanes were finally opened after noon.
Greensburg Police also assisted at the scene along with Decatur County EMS, Indiana State Police, Indiana Dept. of Transportation and TDS Heavy Towing and Recovery.
