Plymouth Police and Fire responded to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Oak Drive shortly after 7:15 Tuesday morning.
Plymouth Police have not released official details of the crash. However, GIANT FM WTCA learned that two semi-trucks were traveling westbound on U.S. 30 when one semi struck the rear of the other at the intersection, forcing the second semi into a passenger vehicle.
It took emergency responders from the Plymouth Fire Department nearly an hour to extricate the driver of the semi. The driver was airlifted to a trauma center. The condition of the driver has not been released.
Drivers of the other vehicles involved were checked at the scene and did not require transport to a hospital.
Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) worked for several hours to clean up the crash site, including an oil spill on the roadway.
Westbound traffic on U.S. 30 was backed up for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
