It is now official. Lawrenceville High School (LHS) is on the lookout for a new principal.
The Unit #20 Board of Education Wednesday night formally accepted the resignation of Andrew Malone. Malone is returning to his native Vincennes where he will become the Franklin Elementary School principal. Malone spent one year as LHS principal after two years as the assistant there.
Superintendent Doug Daugherty told GIANT-fm News and the Lawrence County Post that the position has been posted, and it's hoped a replacement can be selected soon.
In other news, the board approved a tentative budget for the remainder of the 2024-25 school term and will hold a hearing on the fiscal spending plan on June 18 at 7 p.m.
A quote of $33,000 from the firm Alpha from Princeton, Indiana was accepted for work to be done on the energy wheels on the LHS rooftop and approval was made for updates and changes to the Parkview Junior High student handbook.
