Two speeding drivers, one from Rochester and the other from Indianapolis, were arrested for speeding in a construction zone with workers present.
On Monday just before 1 p.m., Deputy Johnson was patrolling the highway in a fully-marked police vehicle and observed a silver Jeep SUV traveling at least 50 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour in a construction zone with workers present. When running the license plate, it showed the registered owner had a suspended license.
A traffic stop was conducted at U.S. 31 and 9A road, and the driver, 66-year-old Edward Strack of Rochester, was found to be operating a vehicle on a license that had a status of suspended with a prior. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for driving while suspended prior, and held on a $500 cash bond.

Deputy Johnson observed a second vehicle traveling 55 in a posted 45 construction zone northbound on U.S. 31 near the 13th road intersection. The officer ran the plate, and it showed the registered owner as having a suspended prior record.
The driver was identified as 29-year-old Cicara Moore of Indianapolis. Moore had a driving status of suspended with a prior. She was transported to the County Jail and booked for driving while suspended prior and held on a $500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
