With the majority of county-wide seats already under their control, Republicans added to their vote total Tuesday in Putnam County with a clean sweep of the Putnam County Council and Commissioner's races.

"As Putnam County Republican Chairman, I couldn't be prouder of our entire Republican team. Winning every contested race across the county is a testament to the hard work of our candidates, volunteers and supporters, who put in countless hours throughout this election cycle. This wasn't just a victory for individual candidates. It was a victory for an entire team that worked together toward a common goal. I'm especially grateful to the voters who made their voices heard. Now, it's time to deliver on the trust they've placed in us," Putnam County Republican Party Chair Beau Baird told The Putnam County Post.

Republicans sweep County Council, Commissioner Seats

In District 1, incumbent Wayne Huffman topped Chuck Spears by a margin of 1,986 votes to 730, while incumbent Jay Alcorn defeated Democrat David Crout by a margin of 1,613 votes to 831 votes.

In District 3, incumbent Danny Wallace held off Democratic challenger Nicholas Heck by a margin of 1,345 votes to 971 votes.

In District 4, Andy Fidler defeated Democrat Craig Allison by a margin of 1,608 votes to 548 votes.

In the County Commissioner District 2 race, Republican incumbent Rick Woodall earned another four years after defeating Democratic challenger Denver Sizemore. Woodall earned 6,279 votes, while Sizemore finished with 3,370 votes.

Republicans retain County Seats

Republicans kept their stranglehold on other county-wide seats, as Democrats did not offer any competition in the general election.

James Ensley retained his seat as Superior Court Judge, while Austin Malayer earned another four years as Prosecutor, and Jerrod Baugh won re-election as Sheriff.

"It has been the greatest honor in my professional life to be elected Sheriff of Putnam County. Growing up in the jail and watching my parents provide this service to our community was what led me to wanting to serve as well. You have given me this opportunity again for another four years and my family and I are grateful," Baugh said.

Tracy Bridges was elected Clerk, Heather Gilbert Recorder, Greg Williams Surveyor, and Don Badolato Assessor.
