The Red Hill Unit #10 Board of Education has approved the submission of an application to the state of Illinois for a maintenance grant for work at the Bridgeport Grade School (BGS).
The project would involve the replacement of the roof at the north end of the school, which is atop the older wing of the building and replacement of the gymnasium roof.
Funding from $50,000 up to $100,000 is available from the Illinois Department of Education for such projects, according to Superintendent Jakie Walker. He was optimistic that the application would be successful.
The Board also set the Junior-High Promotion date for Tuesday, May 18th, 2027
They also heard a presentation by Saluki head baseball coach Chris Seitzinger on the need for necessary improvements at the Tank Farm baseball field in Bridgeport. The matter was referred to the Building and Grounds Committee for study and review.
