A Shelbyville teenager has been charged with recekless homcide in the April 20 shooting death of Adalina Perez.
Jayden McQueary, 18, was with Perez, 17, and others at a home in the 400 block of West Washington. According to court records, McQueary was pointing the laser of a gun around the room. The gun discharged and struck Perez who was declared dead at the scene.
Authorities noted McQueary fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later.
For now, a trial is scheduled for August 25. A pretrial conference is scheduled for June 24.
McQueary was being held on the Level 5 felony charge on a $250,000 bond.
