Authorities in Starke County are asking the public to avoid the area of State Road 10, between US 35 and Range Road, due to an active hazardous materials situation involving an oil spill on the roadway.
Authorities are currently on at the scene and actively working to contain and clean up the spill.
A Facebook post by the Starke County Sheriff's Office on Thursday stated that there was no immediate threat to the health and safety of the public at this time, but for the interest of public safety and efficient cleanup, they requested all motorists to seek alternative routes and avoid the affected area until further notice.
