Property tax increase for Kokomo schools nixed by voters

A referendum for $6.1 million in additional revenue for the Kokomo school corporation was overwhelmingly voted down on Tuesday.

Meant for enhanced academic programs, technology upgrades and nearly two-third of it for staff salaries was denied by voters with 68 percent voting against, 10,262 - 4930.

Voters in two central Indiana communities said "no" to property tax increases to help fund their public schools.
