USI Consultants continues to keep Marshall County and the City of Plymouth updated on Bridge #232, the Randolph Street Bridge Reconstruction Project over the Yellow River.
Work completed last week included having LaPorte Construction pour the bridge deck mid-week. Fort Wayne Reinforcement finished all the rebar on the deck. Michiana Contracting got all the conduit for lighting placed in the deck. Sleeper slabs were formed and poured so that bridge approaches can be poured this week once rebar is tied in place.
Work to be completed this week will see LaPorte Construction finishing prepping both approaches and pouring them in place. They also plan to mobilize a second crew to the site to begin cutting and setting grade in the roadway. If time allows, they plan to set storm structures on the south side and begin placing curbs. LaPorte Construction also plans to pour sidewalks on the deck if time and weather allow.
The awarded contract for this project is $3,012,528. The weekly report says the project is on time. While the project report states that the project is 60% complete, much of the bridge work itself will move along faster with the deck being poured. Those involved in the project are assured that the bridge will be open for pedestrians and trams for the Marshall County Blueberry Festival over Labor Day weekend. Final site work will be completed following the festival.
