The Plymouth Community School Board will conduct a special meeting Wednesday, February 15th at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Lincoln Junior High.
The special meeting is to discuss redistricting of the four elementary schools in Plymouth.
The Corporation hired McKibben Demographic Research out of Rock Hill, SC to assist with the redistricting project. McKibben Demographic research was established in 1989. It has successfully completed more than 200 projects for school districts, planners, and developers as well as provided expert testimony in a number of cases.
Jerry McKibben will be presenting two redistricting options. One would impact approximately 148 students while the second would cause about 350 students to change schools. Mawhorter said using the current elementary school enrollment number of 1,163 students in the four elementary school buildings. Option one would impact about 13% of the enrollment while option two would closer to a 30% impact.
Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter said, “This is an informational meeting, and it will be followed by the start of our new corporation’s vision and mission work.”
