Plymouth Police make 2 traffic-related arrests over the weekend

Plymouth Police Department officers made two arrests in separate traffic stops on Friday and Sunday, July 10th and 12th.

At 2:19 p.m. Friday, Officer Krynock conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 30 at Plymouth-Goshen Trail after observing a traffic infraction. The driver, Lorenzo Perry, 35, of Bluffton, was found to have a suspended driver's license with a prior conviction. He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail.

Sunday evening at 9:05 p.m., Officer Fisher stopped a vehicle at LaPorte and Michigan Streets for an improper taillight. The driver, 18-year-old Kayleah Spelts of Plymouth, was found to have never obtained a driver's license. Spelts was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle without ever being licensed and was booked into the Marshall County Jail. The vehicle was impounded due to a lack of insurance. Spelts was given a court date and bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
