Plymouth City meetings Tonight: Board of Works and Common Council to tackle key votes

Plymouth city officials have a full agenda tonight, with both the Board of Public Works and Safety and the Common Council set to meet at City Hall.

The Board of Public Works and Safety meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. in the second-floor Council Chambers of City Hall.

Among the items on the agenda, the Board will consider a resolution to amend the Fire Protection and Emergency Medical Services agreement between the City of Plymouth and West Township. The Board is also expected to approve an easement with Plymouth Foundry as the city begins work on the Harrison Street sidewalk and trail project, and members will be asked to approve the use of the Water Tower lot near Pilgrim Manor by the Plymouth Kilwinning Masonic Lodge during the Blueberry Festival.

The Plymouth Common Council meeting follows at 6:30 p.m. and will include a public hearing on AK Industries' tax abatement request.

Key items before the Council include the second and third readings of an ordinance setting salaries for city employees and department heads, as well as police and fire personnel, for 2027. Second and third readings of an ordinance setting salaries for elected officials next year, and an ordinance amending the code of ordinances for the Aviation Rotary Fund.

Council members will also receive an update on ONE Marshall County and the city's Comprehensive Plan.

The public is welcome to attend both meetings in person. Attendees should enter through the Garro Street door and proceed to the second floor. The meetings are also streamed live on the City of Plymouth YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person.
