The Plymouth Common Council approved a Community Revitalization Rebate Program Grant on Monday evening to help a local business upgrade its parking facilities.

Beth Cashen of Cashen Creek Florist, located at 627 South Michigan Street, presented the grant application to the council. Her presentation included proof of ownership, a detailed description of the project, before-and-after renderings, and two contractor quotes for the proposed work.

The council reviewed two bids for the parking lot improvements. E & B Paving out of Rochester submitted a quote of $34,841.06, which included grading, asphalt paving, and the addition of a concrete handicap ramp.

The second quote came from US Asphalt in Akron for $16,516. Their proposal outlined cutting out grass to widen the lot, removing existing concrete, installing limestone, compacting the base with a vibrating roller, and laying hot mix asphalt for a smooth, compact finish.

Under recent changes to the Community Revitalization Rebate Program, local businesses can receive a rebate of up to 50% of total qualifying project costs, with a maximum reimbursement cap of $10,000.

Following the review, the City Council approved the grant for Cashen Creek Florist based on the US Asphalt quote, authorizing a maximum payout of $8,258 to assist with the parking lot improvements.
