A two-vehicle accident late Tuesday morning took the life of a Washington (Ind.) woman and severely injured another.
Around 5 a.m., the Daviess County Sheriff's Department responded to a 911 call regarding a collision on the Old U.S. 50 bypass road at Sunnyside Road in Washington.
A 2017 Kia being driven by 64-year-old Judy Ferren of Washington was headed south on Sunnyside Road and struck a 2016 Chrysler whose driver was 30-year-old Christiana Valantin, also of Washington, heading west on the bypass.
Both women were transported by ambulance to Daviess Community Hospital in Washington where Ferren was pronounced dead of her injuries. Valantin was hospitalized with chest and leg injuries. No initial charges have been filed in the incident as the investigation continues.
