Giving county police a false identification lands a Delphos, Ohio woman in the Marshall County Jail.
Last Friday, May 3rd, at approximately 7:10 in the evening, a Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Truty initiated a traffic stop on Fir Road near 11th Road for a moving violation. During the investigation, the deputy discovered the driver had identified themselves as another person.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Asia Cheeks, 24, of Delphos, Ohio.
Ms. Cheeks was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license and false informing with a cash bond of $500. She was held for 48 hours and released with no judicial review.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
