The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that a small tornado touched down in central Knox County (Indiana) Wednesday August 12th.
It was spotted on radar about 9 miles northeast of Vincennes moving to the east at around 15 mph in the Bruceville area. Most of the damage was done to trees in a heavily wooded area and some country roads west of Bruceville were cut off after trees and limbs were torn off and thrown during the height of the twister. There were no reported injuries.
That tornado was part of a large storm system that rumbled across south-central and southwestern Indiana. A tornado touchdown was also reported in Winslow (Indiana) in Pike County. Authorities there say that there were damages reported to various structures and homes along with downed trees and power lines.
Damage assessments are underway by NWS crews and local officials in the affected areas.
