102nd District Republican State Representative Adam Niemerg has been selected to a 6 member Illinois House special investigative committee convened to look into federal charges facing Democratic State Representative Carol Ammons of Urbana.
Ammons has been indicted for wire fraud, obtaining cash kickbacks from unlawful payments made from her campaign account, and taking payments from nonprofits that she helped receive state grant funding.
Niemerg issued a statement saying that ethics, transparency and accountability in Illinois state government must be restored and meaningful ethics reforms must be passed in Springfield to root out the culture of corruption and restore the public's trust.
In addition to Niemerg, other members of the committee include 2 other Republican lawmakers and 3 Democratic legislators including Democratic Assistant Majority Leader Curtis Tarver the II, who will be the chairman.
