Knox County and Vincennes economic and governmental officials along with representatives of the firm Simplified Developments officially broke ground on a major housing development project Monday in Vincennes.
The ceremony took place for Bierhaus Flats, a planned $35 million 240-unit apartment complex to be located on Bierhaus Boulevard near Kohl's on the city's east side.
It is the largest residential housing development in the history of Vincennes and will look to help address the lack of affordable living locations in the city and the surrounding area.
Site work is already underway at the location, which will consist of 5 buildings which will house single, double- and- three- bedroom apartments to be leased at market value to a wide range of people ranging from young, single adults to retired married couples.
Construction is being handled by Elite Construction Services, a sister company to Simplified Developments and is expected to be completed by late 2026.
