Michigan woman arrested on drug and license charges following traffic stop

A 55-year-old Niles, Michigan woman was arrested late Wednesday night after a traffic stop revealed a suspended driver's license and suspected drugs in her vehicle.

On May 28, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Deputy Bennett the Marshall County Sheriff's Department K-9 conducted a traffic stop in the area of Michigan Road and Veterans Parkway. The driver was identified as Doreen Ruggles, 55, of Niles.

During the stop, the deputy discovered that Ruggles was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver's license. A further investigation led to the discovery of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Ruggles was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where she was booked for driving while suspended, a misdemeanor, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. Her cash bond was set at $500.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Plymouth Police Department during the stop.
