A Mentone man is facing felony charges after he allegedly stole thousands of dollars of scrap from a Warsaw business.

According to court documents, the Warsaw Police Department was contacted by a representative for Dalton Foundry on May 4, about someone stealing items that included brass rods, rounds and wire.

After further investigation, it was soon discovered Lewis Salvage had made transactions with Anthony Hackworth, 40, for scrap that included insulated copper wire, brass, starters, an appliance, different types of copper and more. Hackworth received $4,805.80 from Lewis Salvage for the exchange.

Police later determined the total value for all the items Hackworth was accused of taking totaled to $7,500.63.

A warrant was put out for his arrest and Hackworth was eventually arrested July 13 and booked at the Kosciusko Jail, but was later released on bond. An initial hearing is scheduled for September 11.
