Marshall County EMA Saturday update on weekend weather impact

The following information on the upcoming weekend forecast was released Saturday by Jack Garner, Director Marshall County Emergency Management Agency:

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Marshall County in advance of Winter Storm Fern.

Greatest impacts are still expected to be to our south, but 3-6" of snow is in the cards for us.

The snow is expected to begin around 2 a.m. overnight and continue into Sunday evening. It is expected to be dry and fluffy snow that will exacerbate drifting problems. Slick roads can be expected during and after the event. A Travel Advisory remains in effect for that reason.

The Cold Weather Advisory also remains in effect with subzero wind chills expected for the next week. Wind chills Saturday morning are around -10. Monday PM and Tuesday PM look to be the coldest.

This will be my final briefing on this event unless the forecast changes significantly, in which case another update will be sent tonight. Drive safe, stay warm, and thank you for your hard work!
