The city of Lawrenceville has received another inspection report, this time from federal officials regarding its public drinking-water system.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has identified 17 areas of concern in connection with the systematic operation, maintenance, monitoring and recordkeeping after a compliance evaluation done in early June. The 69-page report was made based on observations made by inspectors at the city water plant in Lawrenceville.
The US EPA says that the listing of areas of concern does not necessarily mean a formal compliance determination or the discovery of a violation or violations. The report sent to the city in mid-August asks them to provide information about actions taken in response to the concerns within 30 days of its receipt.
The new report was a topic of discussion at the regular meeting of the Lawrenceville City Council with Mayor David Courtney reporting that the city had received the report. He told GIANT-FM News that the city will work to address the items of deficiencies and concern brought up in the report and make sure things are legal and safe with regard to the public drinking water system.
