Lawrenceville Mayor David Courtney has issued a statement praising city workers for their efforts during this past weekend's winter storm and the resulting aftermath.
In the message on the city website, Courtney thanked crews for working throughout difficult and trying conditions over the duration of the storm Saturday into Sunday. He added that the Street Department cleared a near-record snowfall by working round the clock.
During the same time period, the Utilities Department was called out in response to several water main breaks in the Lexington and Porter Avenue areas. Work crews were able to address the issues despite worker fatigue, aging infrastructure, and sub-zero temperatures. The repair work was augmented by help from employees from other city departments.
