Lawrenceville Mayor David Courtney has announced that the city has now agreed to the terms and conditions of a compliance commitment agreement proposed by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA).
The two sides came to the mutual agreement after the IEPA made allegations of several serious violations that the city does not dispute.
There will be several changes made regarding operations moving forward including improving the timeliness of sample reporting, more efficient response and documentation of city sanitary sewer overflows, improving lines of departmental communication and expediting system repairs in a timely manner.
The full agreement will be discussed when the City Council has its' next regular monthly session on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Lawrenceville City Hall.
