A local girl is advancing to state in a patriotic essay contest.
Congratulations to Addison Thacker from Lawrence County. She won first place in the District 13 Patriot's Pen competition this past weekend.
Thacker will now advance to the state competition and represent Ambraw VFW Post #2244.
She was selected from among a large number of participants as the winner and will join Sarah Hentges, who won the District 13 Voice of Democracy contest. Hentges will represent Centralia VFW Post #2055 at state.
