Lane closures, traffic pattern shift to impact I-70 in both directions in Vigo County

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces single-lane closures and a traffic pattern shift that will impact I-70 eastbound and westbound near Terre Haute.

Beginning on or after Monday, August 3, INDOT contractors will close individual lanes during the evening hours in both directions of I-70, located about 1/2-mile west of Sidenbender Road (8-9-mile markers). The purpose of this project is to replace the CSX Transportation bridges over the interstate with a large box structure and pedestrian path. A median crossover will also be utilized to allow crews to close these lanes while crews demolish the current bridges.

Work will take place between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weeknights, between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and between 9 p.m. to 11 a.m. on Sundays. Construction is anticipated to last until December but is weather-dependent and subject to change.
