The Knox County (Ind.) Commissioners, meeting this week, took initial action to adjust solar plant project setbacks.
They approved on first reading a revamped ordinance which will increase the setback distances from solar facilities. The amended legislation would create a 500-foot setback, if a property borders a solar plant in two locations.
The measure passed by a 2-1 vote after a discussion as whether or not to increase the setback distance to 750 feet. A motion to that end died for lack of a second.
It now heads to the Knox County Area Plan Commission (APC) for consideration and a recommendation before coming back to the Commissioners for second and third readings and potential passage.
