ITAMCO in Argos helps launch students into the workforce with internship program

Student interns participating in the Craftsmen With Character program at ITAMCO in Argos, shared their experience at the manufacturing facility this week to company management, their mentors and community management with a presentation that was followed by the high schoolers being presented with a certificate of completion on the program they had participated in over the school year. 

ITAMCO partners in the IGNITE Manufacturing program, which places high school seniors in precision machining rotations. This school year six students from Rochester High School, Plymouth High School and Triton participated in the intern program ITAMCO.

Rochester seniors Ashton Musselman and Hunter Kamp, along with Plymouth High School Senior Will Cassady gave their presentations that afternoon about the learning experience the internship at ITAMCO gave them, highlighting Craftsman's Code, a set of ethical principles for trades people, technical skills and the value of mentorship. The students also detailed lessons learned and project successes. 

Much like the other interns who participated in the program, Ashton Musselman told GIANT fm News he was thankful for ITAMCO and what he was taught during the year to further prepare him for his future. 

Triton students Hunter Morgan, Owen Waymouth, and Gage Riffle also participated in the ITAMCO program and presented on their internships during a morning session on Tuesday, as well. 

ITAMCO Training Manager Michael Delp helped coordinate the interns rotation at the facility throughout the year. At the end of the presentations Delp presented the students with a certificate of completion for the program. Delp believes the internship program will help many students with confidence in the work field to help connect the dots for their future. 

"Seeds of technical skill, professionalism and character were definitely planted throughout this experience in these young men.  We are excited to see the fruit come out of those seeds in their lives and careers later on down the road.  In addition, this program is helping reveal who of our current employees have a heart for teaching and mentorship.  This is just the beginning for them and for us," Delp said.
