The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has announced it is seeking Lawrence County and other state residential input on ways to make traveling safer.

They are partnering with the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission (GWRPC) in Albion to come up with "Comprehensive Safety Action Plans" to serve southeastern Illinois and other regions. The plans are part of the statewide "Road to Zero" safety initiative to work toward the elimination of traffic deaths and serious injuries on local roadways.

Those interested are asked to take a few minutes to share their travel and transportation experiences, concerns with travel in their region, and suggestions for improvements. To take part, visit ilsafetyactionplans.org/survey.

The GWRPC serves Lawrence, Crawford, Edwards, Richland, Wabash, Wayne and White counties in southeastern Illinois.
