Hunters across the state of Illinois harvested a preliminary total of 51,409 deer during the first weekend of the firearm deer season between Friday, November 21st through Sunday, November 23rd, 2025. That compares to 54,661 deer taken during the first weekend in 2024.

According to the latest numbers released this week by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), Lawrence County deer hunters took 407 deer locally during the first weekend of 2025. That is less than the 476 total taken in 2024.

Illinois' seven-day firearm deer season will conclude Thursday, December 4th through Sunday, December 7th. More information on deer hunting is available by visiting the IDNR online website.
