Howell looks back fondly on time with Cloverdale Town Board

With a desire to do what was right, Brice Howell put his name on the ballot and sought office in the Town of Cloverdale.

In 2023, he won a seat on the Cloverdale Town Board, representing Ward 2. All that came to an abrupt halt this week, as Howell, who served as the board's vice president, joined Cloverdale Town Board President Brandon Tancak in resigning his seat, effective immediately. 

"The decision was tough and easy at the same time. My wife and I are purchasing a home in Terre Haute, so the end was coming at some point for me. With the lies and constant misinformation being spread over the last month by the community and people hoping to have political gain, the timing was right to go ahead and step away now," Howell told The Putnam County Post. 

While he will never say never, Howell admits this is "more than likely the end" of his political endeavors. 

"I got on the board to help my community and do what was right, not to be a public figurehead and have recognition like some people running in this current election. I signed up to make a change and we did that in a positive way. While my leaving was inevitable, the town lost a true asset and leader with Brandon leaving," he admitted. 

Howell said he leaves proud of what was accomplished during his time on the board, even if the public didn't get to see a lot of the work that went into success. 

"We accomplished so much. A lot of that the public couldn’t see because the majority of it was infrastructure underground. It wasn’t something bright and shiny. We completed roughly 15 million dollars in improvements and infrastructure to the community and the grants we received covered roughly 10 million of that. Our fiscal responsibility has left the town in a financial position we haven’t seen in 20 years. I hope that continues," he said. 

As for what is next, Howell said he will continue to run his business, Evolution Automotive, LLC, in Cloverdale, as well as travel and manage horse shows. 

"My family and I look forward to our new home and continuing to be a proud business owner and supporter of the Cloverdale Community," Howell said.
