Honoring Michael Leep, Sr. at MUAC

The annual Marian University Ancilla College (MUAC) Changing Lives Scholarship Dinner is set for October 2^nd, and this year they will be honoring Michael Leep, Sr., with the 2025 Ancilla Domini Legacy of Service award!

As Marian University’s Ancilla College begins its fifth year, they are excited to gather in support of student scholarships and leadership. With these scholarships, they can fulfill their commitment to service and transformation. The students who benefit from these scholarships will develop professionally, personally, and spiritually, positively impacting our community as they enter the workforce. Their talents will drive economic, social, and cultural growth in northern Indiana, as the university’s mission dictates.

In 1967, Michael Leep entered the automobile industry as a salesman for McAnary Ford in Gary. In 1973, Michael and his business partner, Van Gurley, had the opportunity to purchase their first automobile dealership, a Dodge franchise in Highland. Later, in 1977, Michael and Van purchased a Buick franchise in South Bend.

Since then, Gurley Leep Automotive Group has grown to 15 automotive retail franchises at 21 dealerships across Michiana, Northwest Indiana, Lansing, Davenport, Des Moines, St. Louis, and Northbrook—employing more than 1,100 people.

Additionally, Leep has served with or been involved in numerous charitable organizations supporting education, medical research, mental health support, mentorship, and homelessness. His commitment to giving back to the community aligns with the mission, vision, and values of Marian University and the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.

Marian University’s Ancilla College annual Changing Lives Scholarship Dinner on October 2^nd will be held at the Swan Lake Resort. Tickets are now on sale. Individual tickets are $100, and Ancilla College alumni tickets are $75.
