Drivers east of Plymouth should plan for a road closure beginning this week as the City of Plymouth Utilities Department moves forward with a scheduled infrastructure project.
City Utilities Superintendent Donnie Davidson informed members of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety last week that the intersection of East Jefferson Street and Richter Road will be closed starting Wednesday, August 12th, at 8:00 a.m. to allow crews to replace an aging culvert beneath the roadway.
The closure is expected to last approximately five days, though Davidson noted the timeline is weather dependent. The road will reopen as soon as the new pipe has been installed and paving is complete.
Signage will be posted to guide motorists around the work zone. Westbound traffic will be directed via Richter Road to Baker Street to Columbus Drive, while eastbound traffic should follow Columbus Drive to Baker Street to Richter Road to navigate around the closure.
Residents and commuters who regularly travel through the area are encouraged to factor the closure into their daily routes beginning Wednesday morning and to stay alert for updates on the reopening timeline, as weather conditions may affect the schedule.
