On Friday evening, April 4th, at approximately 10:10 p.m., Corporal Schieber with the Plymouth Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Michigan and LaPorte Street. The stop was for driving with no lights on.
During the officer’s investigation, the driver was identified as 53-year-old Exal Cruz-Meda, of Plymouth. Cruz-Meda was found to have never been issued a driver's license. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for driving without a license.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
