A routine traffic stop by a Marshall County Sheriff's deputy on Wednesday evening led to the arrest of two individuals on drug-related and other charges.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, a deputy stopped a vehicle for traffic infractions at approximately 8:22 p.m. on Thursday, May 7th. During the stop, the deputy discovered that the driver, identified as Samuel J. Beckett, 25, of Argos, had never obtained a driver's license.

A passenger in the vehicle, Hailey J. Miller, 22, of Rochester, informed the deputy that she had active warrants out of Fulton County.

Both individuals were taken into custody and lodged at the Marshall County Jail. Beckett faces charges of possession of a scheduled drug, possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle without obtaining a license. Miller was also booked on the outstanding Fulton County warrants, along with additional charges.

Both are being held on a $1,500 cash bonds.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Fulton County Sheriff's Department, a K9 unit, and the Argos Police Department.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed, and there is only probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
