Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters gave county commissioners an update on Bridge # 232, the Randolph Street Bridge in Centennial Park in Plymouth Monday.
Peters said LaPorte Construction will be on-site to continue with bridge demolition. The rest of the beams should be removed by the end of this week along with the demolition of the existing center support.
Last week, LaPorte Construction continued with excavation for the crane pad and ramp as well as tearing out the old roadway on the south side to use as fill for the ramp that will be removed at a later date. Riprap was hauled in and placed along with geotextile on the south bank in areas that won’t be affected by construction later as well as where they plan to sit the crane for the rest of the beam removal and pile driving activities coming up.
LaPorte Construction did not work last Thursday or Friday due to weather conditions.
The crane was mobilized to the site and set up for next week’s operations.
