Last month, Billy Schoff, Head of the County’s Building and Grounds Department, gave his quarterly update to the County Commissioners.
Projects that have been or will be completed included the Superior Court III jury room, where the panels on the wall were removed and drywall installed, drop ceiling and heat-pump replaced, and improved the restrooms. Schoff said the south gravel parking lot, across from the courthouse, had a fence installed and signage was added for county parking only.
Out at the morgue, behind the jail, County Coroner John Grolich needed a procedure light above the autopsy table installed. At the new maintenance building on Plum Street Schoff is getting a quote to put a fence around the perimeter of the north side of the building to keep implements secure.
D&R Masonry will be here late spring or early summer to replace the sidewalk legs leading up to the staircase on the east side of the courthouse and they also installed a new soft water unit in the courthouse which assists with urinals in the building. Schoff also said he is getting bids for new carpet in the Extension Office.
Commissioner Kevin Overmyer said the county is going to have to pave the south parking lot because they are out of compliance with the city zoning. He suggested Mr. Schoff speak to Highway Superintendent Jason Peters and see if the highway department could get it paved.
