Cloverdale officials get update on Lieber Project, Stormwater Project

Town manager Jason Hartman briefed the town council on the Lieber wastewater project, as well as the town's stormwater project this week.

As the calendar rolls on, it is business as usual for the Town of Cloverdale when it comes to two major projects in and around town.

Town manager Jason Hartman briefed the town council on the Lieber wastewater project, as well as the town's stormwater project this week during its meeting. 

Hartman said the Lieber project is going "very well," and offered up a surprise to the council.

"We feel like we will be under budget by quite a bit. We are looking at other projects we can do out of contingency, maybe in the half million dollar range. 

We will do some other projects that need to be done for the wastewater project. We hope to have it done October-November, and most everything is complete. 

The only thing left to do in town is lining. A lot of the big parts are complete, and it is exciting," Hartman said. 

Cloverdale Town Council president Brandon Tancak welcomed the news. 

"Progress on the Lieber project is moving along nicely. Knowing we are coming in under budget is allowing us to spend that extra money elsewhere related to that project and that is a plus. I am working with Jason to identify those areas and we will let everyone know when those have been decided," Tancak told The Putnam County Post. 

As part of the project, the town will receive wastewater from Lieber State Recreation Area as well as the replacement and rehab of multiple water mains throughout Cloverdale and improvements to the town's wastewater treatment facility. 

As for the town's stormwater project, which has seen starts and false starts this year, Hartman said contractors are expected to begin work on Aug. 19, which is a delay from when he was first told. 

"Hopefully, we will see them next week," Hartman said. 

Tancak echoed those sentiments.

"I hope they can start on Monday, the 19th, and we don't get another pushback like we have already experienced related to this project," he said. 

The town had to change the initial scope of the project earlier this year as it came in over budget, forcing the town to re-bid the project. All American Express Solutions was awarded the bid and the project has been broken into eight segments. 

Portions included in the stormwater project are: Stardust Hills, Stardust Way, Lazy River Road, Market Street and South Doe Creek, as well as a block of the business district.
