Plymouth Police Chief John Weir released details on three arrests made by his department this week.

On Tuesday evening, January 20th, at approximately 7:10, Corporal Schieber conducted a traffic stop on a box truck that was traveling at a high rate of speed on U.S. 30 approaching Oak Drive. During his investigation, the driver showed signs of impairment. Upon further investigation, the driver, 31-year-old Gustavo Diaz-Aguirre, of Chicago, was taken into custody for operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangerment, operating while intoxicated-controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.

Additionally, suspected marijuana was located in the vehicle, resulting in the passenger, 31-year-old Ruben Falcon Jr, also of Chicago, being taken into custody for possession of marijuana.

Both Diaz-Aguirre and Falcon were lodged at the Marshall County Jail and assigned a court date.

Officer Krynock stopped a vehicle at Oak and Jefferson Streets on Wednesday morning, just after 7, because of a traffic infraction. The driver, 30-year-old Dario Rolando Carvajal-Santos of Plymouth, was found to have never received a driver's license. Santos was lodged at the Marshall County Jail, given a court date of February 24, and a $100 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. Those charged are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
