Officer Enyart of the Plymouth Police Department was dispatched to 2535 North Michigan Street, the Economy Inn, on Monday at 7 a.m. for a reported domestic battery.

The woman involved in the assault had moved to a different room to wait for the police.

During the officer’s investigation, it was discovered that the woman had multiple bruises on her body.

Brayden Hochstedler, 21 years old, was taken into custody following statements and evidence of injuries. He has a booking address in South Bend, but told city police he is from Plymouth.

Hochstedler was booked into the Marshall County Jail for domestic battery and is being held on a $1500 cash bond. He has an initial court hearing scheduled for Dec. 16 in Marshall Superior Court III.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
