The Mid-American Air Center located northeast of Lawrenceville is looking to reduce costs through the potential use of solar energy.
The Bi-State Authority, which governs the facility, were updated Tuesday night on research being done on the matter by assistant airport manager Devon Hill.
He is working with an Indianapolis, Indiana firm on ways to cut electrical costs through use of the sun.
If implemented, the system use would reduce usage at the airport terminal and other operational buildings along with runways.
Business locations at the airport would not be affected.
