2 domestic battery incidents keep Plymouth Officers busy Saturday evening

Plymouth Police officers responded to two separate domestic battery incidents within an hour of each other Saturday evening, June 13th, resulting in three arrests and two people transported to the Plymouth hospital with injuries.

At 8:30 p.m., city officers were dispatched to Carriage Drive for a report of a physical domestic disturbance. Officer Vinson investigated and determined that Isaiah Navejar, 21, of the 10,000 block of Carriage Hills, had assaulted Jose Rosales, striking him in the head with a shovel and causing injuries.

Navejar was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on three charges: domestic battery with a deadly weapon as a Level 6 felony, domestic battery resulting in moderate injury as a Level 5 felony, and intimidation with a deadly weapon as a Level 5 felony. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Just one hour later, at 9:30 p.m., Plymouth officers were dispatched to the 800 block of North Seventh Street for a report of an unknown problem. Officer Thornton arrived to find two males engaged in a physical altercation near the roadway.

Both men — 18-year-old Epson Reyes-Rios and 40-year-old Etson N. Reyes, both of the Seventh Street address — were detained by officers. Due to their injuries, both were transported to the hospital for treatment before being taken to the Marshall County Jail. Each was charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury and bonded out approximately 24 hours later.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
