Looking for a perfect fall outing?

This October, the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in North Judson is bringing back its popular Pumpkin Trains — running every Saturday through the month.

Passengers board at the historic depot for a ten-mile round-trip diesel excursion out to the Kankakee River. The ride lasts about forty-five minutes and ends at the museum's own Pumpkin Patch, where kids and adults can play games and pick the perfect pumpkin for carving.

Admission to the museum is free, and visitors can explore a diorama of the four railroads that once converged in North Judson — plus a restored World War Two Pullman Troop Car and one of the region's largest collections of working railroad signals.

Tickets are available online at hoosiervalley dot org, or by calling the depot Saturdays at 574-896-3950. It's advised to book ahead — these trains sell out.
