Free tree giveaway

The Greencastle Sustainability Commission, sponsored by Buzzi Unicem USA, will give away free tree saplings on Saturday, April 25th in the Putnam County Museum parking lot. The public giveaway starts at 9:00 a.m.

Buzzi Unicem USA has funded the tree giveaway since 2018. Buzzi staff coordinate the morning activity to distribute 1600 trees in a little under two hours. The giveaway is part of the city’s official Arbor Day celebration activities. The city has been designated a Tree City USA community since 1997.

Trees that will be available include the following:
100 White Oak
100 Bur Oak
100 Shagbark Hickory
100 Black Cherry
200 White Pine
200 Swamp Chestnut Oak
200 Swamp White Oak
100 Pin Oak
100 Red Oak
200 Tulip tree
100 American Plum
100 Black gum
