Waldron High School’s 8-man football team opened its 2024 season with a 47-0 win Saturday night over Indiana Deaf.
Troy Atwood rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Mohawks. Hunter Dodson added 83 more yards rushing, a rushing touchdown, a passing touchdown and he kicked the first point-after attempt following a touchdown in program history.
Waldron installed goalposts in the offseason to allow for extra-point kicking attempts.
Quarterback Walker Dodson completed four passing attempts for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Atwood and Tad Crosby, who had a touchdown reception, each led the defense with 7.5 tackles. Crosby had two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.
The Mohawks head to southern Indiana this Saturday to take on Rock Creek Academy. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
