Triton Central graduate to be inducted into Xavier Athletics Hall of Fame

Triton Central soccer star Samantha Dewey is one of three members of the 2026-27 induction class for the Xavier University Athletics Hall of Fame.

The all-female Hall of Fame class this year is a first for Xavier.

Joining Dewey (Class of 2019) in the induction class are Suntana Granderson (2007) and Stephanie Vorherr (20130.

The trio will be honored at halftime of the women’s basketball game on Dec. 6 with the induction event to follow later that day.

Samantha Dewey

A 2019 United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American, Dewey earned a long list of other honors during her impressive career.

She was a four-time BIG EAST Conference honoree, a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection, one-time All-BIG EAST Second Team selection, and BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection. She also was a 2019 All-East Regional First Team selection.

Dewey led the Musketeers on offense in each of her four full seasons.

Dewey’s 25 points, including four game winners, in 2018 marked the most for a Musketeer since 2003 and her nine goals were the most for a Musketeer in over 10 years. She also earned a spot on the 2018 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.

Dewey led the Musketeers in her redshirt senior year of 2010 to their first BIG EAST regular season title, first BIG EAST Tournament title, and first NCAA match win, while collecting a program-best 17 wins.

In that redshirt senior year, she led Xavier with 30 points on 13 goals, four assists and four game winners. Her 13-goal season ranks as the fourth most in a single season in program history.

She finished her career with 103 points on 40 goals and 23 assists.

Dewey’s 257 career goals for Triton Central is still the state record for both boys and girls. Her single-season record of 83 goals in 2014 was tied by Hanover Central’s Kiara Desiderio in 2024.

Suntana Granderson

Granderson was a three-time All-Atlantic 10 Conference honoree, lettered four years in basketball, helping lead Xavier to an Atlantic 10 Championship in the 2006-07 season. She was a key part of three straight WNIT appearances in her first three seasons before earning an NCAA berth her senior year.

Xavier posted an 86-40 record during her time on the team.

Granderson made the 2025-26 All-Atlantic 10 Second Team as a senior after averaging 13.5 points per game and shooting 34% from three-point range. She made the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team as a junior in the 2004-05 season with 14.9 points per game and 33.5% shooting from behind the arc.

Granderson is ranked 11^th on Xavier’s all-time scoring list with 1,520 career points, averaging 12.4 per game over her career. She finished her career and is still ranked third in three-pointers made (265) and 10^th in steals (156).

Granderson, now known by her married name of Suntana Anderson, coached Marian University women’s basketball to the 2026 NAIA National Championship.

Stephanie Vorherr

A former standout at Cincinnati’s Mother of Mercy High School, Vorherr was a two-time AVCA All-American Honorable Mention Team selection (2010 and 2012) and AVCA All-Region honoree (2010 and 2012) during her decorated four-year Xavier volleyball career.

Vorherr was a three-time Atlantic 10 Libero of the Year honoree from 2009-11, earned Atlantic 10 Second Team honors three times from 2010-12 and was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year in 2009.

Vorherr, a two-time captain, holds the school record for single-match digs (46), season digs (603) and career digs (2,152). She ranks in the top 10 for single season digs in all of her four years, including the second best mark at 558. All told, she has her name in the Xavier record book nine times.

Her class posted an 82-44 (45-14 A-10) record during her time on the team, and she helped lead the Musketeers to three straight A-10 Tournament Runner-Up finishes in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
